The Program
The Amazon Hacking program is a training initiative for students at CESUPA's School of Business, Technology, and Innovation - ARGO. It aims to connect companies committed to Amazonian sustainability, the local community and its traditional knowledge, with scientific and technological knowledge. The goal is to promote the bioeconomic development of the region from a global perspective.
What are we looking for?
University students will develop impactful projects to solve complex problems based on challenges identified by the local residents themselves.
3rd Edition
Combú Knowledge: Developing an inclusive bioeconomy in the Amazon.
Ilha do Combu is a river island located on the Guamá River, very close to Belém do Pará. It is home to approximately 2,200 inhabitants. Its economy is driven mainly by the extraction of products such as açaí, cocoa and cupuaçu.
The island has been designated an Environmental Protection Area to preserve its rich biodiversity and faces challenges in tourism and infrastructure growth, especially in sanitation and waste management. These problems require careful solutions to maintain a balance between economic development and environmental sustainability.
